I tried to get a loaner for mine, from the dealership that I purchased the car from new and they said no... I drive too many miles (200 miles a night) and they flat out are refusing to give me a loaner. they said to call customer service and see if they would spring for a rental... I didn't bother. I have a spare car that I can use... So I guess now wont buy a Ford again either... And I told GM to kiss my a$# years ago. so I am down to Chrysler or Foreign.
I've read so many awful stories about this. It's frustrating.

Dealers hate to do anything that doesn't make them a boatload of cash. I'd still try to get Ford to do something, but I guess they don't think they have to.
Ford is banking on people just giving up and getting another car, but most of us aren't loaded with cash. A lot of people depend on this as their only car, and they can't afford to keep making payments on a car they can't use.

I hope that lawsuit slaps them good.

oh, I have been making payments on a brick sitting in my driveway... And trust me, I owe way more than what it is worth, even if it was running perfect... downside of what I do for a living...

Reading some of these posts really makes me sad. I can't imagine being in such a position where you need a car and due to no fault of you own....you have one but can't use it.
Even when it's still under warranty, apparently it can take months to fix. Thats unacceptable.
I don't want to just bash Ford. I'm sure there are horror stories from just about any make.
I truly hope all of you are made whole from this lawsuit....and not just a free repair, but for loss of use.

Same here. Hundreds, if not thousands of people have had this happen to them. I'm not even on any other EcoSport groups or forums, and the tales I've heard...
Some had to take out a loan for a new engine. Others had to rent cars and bum rides just to get to work.

This is an incredible failure for Ford. They need to make it right.

👋 all. My mom's 2018 Ford EcoSport 1.0 has the same problem and right now the vehicle is inoperable because of oil pump drive belt went bad. We got the letter for the recall and just waiting for them when they going take the car to the dealership for repairs. It's second quarter so anytime now.

I was driving when the Low Engine Oil Pressure alert came on the dash without the check engine light. The engine turned off minutes later after turning into a quick oil change garage so I was towed to the Ford dealer. Two weeks later I am told the oil pump was reading zero psi (not working) and therefore the engine seized and now needs to be replaced without even addressing the oil pump issue that caused the engine to seize. I had no warning or indication about any issue while driving. Also, a recall letter from Ford states how this vehicle's engine can stop running when driving. How is anyone supposed to know? I don't know what to do and I don't have the money needed for a new engine being $7,200 when I still owe $8,000. Any guidance will be gladly embraced. Thank you.

I'm presuming you have the 1.0 Ecoboost engine. Ford has to replace that engine for free. They will.

The dealer where the service center is won't budge as the quote is $7,200 and they are not even addressing the core issue being the oil pump as stated in this letter I received from Ford about a recall. I mean literally every 2018 model will be affected eventually and they all seem to go after 60,000. I didn't bother with an extended warranty after 60,000 as the car was only 5 years old when I bought the car new in 2019 with zero miles. Now I feel guilty for never choosing this warranty when they are saying the cost would be nothing had I had the warranty. I get how warranties work. I don't get how I am charged for a new engine when a defect seems to be the issue meaning the oil pump. The engine was basically starved of oil and I could never have known as I always get an oil change between 3 and 5,000 with synthetic. This entire ordeal is unbelievable. Is my next step to contact Ford directly? Surely they cannot be surprised. This dealer back and forth is going nowhere.

I currently have my 2018 Ecosport parked in my driveway as the engine is 'blown'. My local ford dealer will only replace the engine for $8500 (new engine). Then they will have Me seek reimbursement for the new engine when Ford Actually Has a fix for the oil pump issue. This fix is expected sometime after June. I was also informed that I would have to prove that I provided all oil changes and expected care for the engine. When asking further, it was clarified that Ford does Not have to reimburse if they feel I did not prove the cause of the damage was the recall. The tech at the dealership would Not say the oil pump was the cause - he diagnosed it as 'debris in the engine'.
I asked a lawyer and in my state I have no legal stance - so I'm seeking a used engine and an experienced mechanic.

Yeah, I would talk to Ford directly.

My dad worked for 30 Ford years but I'm very disappointed and ford I'll never buy another for my 2019 ecosport broke down on West Virginia and I live in North Carolina I called the dealership where I live and they said have it towed to that area what good is that going to do me when I need my vehicle in North Carolina we knew about to recall we never got anything further in the mail about it well they're going to have to do something about it now it said low oil pressure and we just changed the oil a couple months ago so we had to pull off the road the next exit and let the car cool down but we still had to take the car further to advance Auto which was in that area and ravenswood West Virginia had to leave the car Ford needs to fix his problem if I have to have another engine I'm file for a lawsuit and the car was making a lot of noise in the engine and it never hurt it like that before it's always purr like a kitten for me I am going through enough with my father passing away I don't need this stress

As of today- it’s been two weeks and my daughter’s car is still sitting at a dealership. It’s been approved for a new engine however, she lives in a different state and she’s underage to rent ait’s been two weeks and my daughter’s car is still sitting at a dealership. It’s been approved for a new engine however she lives in a different state and she’s underage to rent a car so she has been stuck taking Ubers to a $15 an hour job every day, Ford has told me that they will reimburse and I’m supposed to save all my expenses but reading a lot of this. I doubt it and I am going to contact the class action suit. On a dark highway at 10:45 at night when the oil light came on then the engine light which required police and fire to show up. Ford has no plans for anybody who’s under the age to actually get a loaner vehicle and they are essentially stuck, especially if they live out of state like at a college campus where these cars are heavily used. I’m absolutely looking to share the story with media.. we bought the car 13 months earlier and only put 7000 miles on it and bought it direct from a Ford dealership who used it as a shop car which means it was well-maintained but now I’m beginning to question if they knew…

I took my 2019 Ford ecosport to the dealership bc of low oil pressure warning. After seeing on line that there was a recall for the problem I was having. Had to pay dealership $98 to do a check of systems. Dealership said my motor was not that bad and they wouldn't have (recall) parts to fix it as anyways till January 2025. When I asked what to do if the engine stopped working, they said call a tow truck and the dealership would try to bill ford for the tow. Ford and their dealerships Not very concerned about their customers safety. Not a satisfied customer and will never waist another dime on any Ford product.

They should be giving you a new motor at no cost....

Hi...my 2020 EcoSport just did the same, except I was able to still accelerate to about 40mph. Was visiting my Brother in Vegas and had driven from SLC Utah. Luckily this didn't happen while on our way there or home, in the middle of nowhere! The unfortunate situation is that we had to have it towed to a local Ford dealership and rent al car to get back to SLC. Asked if the car could possibly be towed to SLC...no go. Also, because it happened in another state, I have to come out of pocket for a rental and will "hopefully" be reimbursed. An interim repair will be done at the dealership in Vegas, but could take up to 2 months or more due to backordered parts!!! You would think FORD would do way more than they are! Making a reason for us to want to take legal action!

Supposedly towing, rental cars and repairs are all covered under the RECALL...so make sure to keep all receipts and document all interactions with FORD as well as any actions pertaining to the situation. Joining the Class Action today! Looking to trade it in also

I have 2020 with 71000 5000 mile oil changes with synthetic mobile 1 oil if anyone has gotten help from ford or any assistance I would love to hear about it Harveyservice@yahoo.com

Hello

I have 2020 ecosport 1.0
Engine failed after eng lites came on on 4 hr drive to Montreal. They went out 15 sec later.
Once arrived in Montreal took car to Ford and engine was toast.
Every 5k chg oil with synthetic. 80 k on engine

engine could have failed on major highway… thankfully it waited till downtown major city.

it is not just USA many are located in Canada too. Parts are not available till later 2025.
I had rental car reluctantly paid for by Ford and now in other battles for the damage they did to exhaust system while doing engine repair.
Is there a class action suit in Canada ??
