From what I understand, the oil pump failures are due to the oil pumps seizing up because the oil pickup screen gets plugged with sludge because of not changing the oil at the correct intervals. Once the pump seizes up, the oil pump drive belt destroys itself. If the oil pump belt tensioner fails, that will cause the same issue as well. And once you don't have oil flow, say bye bye to your main & rod bearings...

Ford says you can go 10K miles on an oil change... I can't do that to a motor. I change mine faithfully every 5K with full synthetic oil and have yet to have an issue at all with the motor. And I am just over 75K miles on mine.
I didn't know about the claim every 10k. I changed my vehicle every 5-6k depending on my schedule. My car rus running fine no issues until it happen. I was on a highway when the low oil sensor came on. Once at dealership catastrophic engine failure. She was a 2020 with 98000.

I have a 2020 that the oil pressure light came on At 70000 milesDealer says I need a new engine I changed my oil on time every 7000 milesAnd there's no code that comes up when youLookAnd nothing shows off my phone either my phone says that my car has no issues Yet it don't run I do believe that's an issue

Well that just sucks... I am currently @ 98500 miles on my '21... Ford recommends the Timing & Oil pump drive belts to be replaced at 150,000 miles... I am being proactive, and have already scheduled mine to be replaced here in the next week or two. They are waiting for one last part to come in. Once it is done, I am going to post a pic of the "infamous" oil pump drive belt on here for everyone to see.

Curious to see how it's held up. It would also be informative to note if there are any bits of it in the oil pickup.

Well, I change the oil myself, and I always inspect the drain pan for any debris.... and so far, so good. Haven't found any belt material or metal in it so far....

Hey Jimmy I just experienced the same problem with no extended warranty. The engine is on backorder but I may have a little solution to help. I have a 2018 Ecosport. Email me at chooks1981@gmail.com.
I have 2020 with 71000 5000 mile oil changes with synthetic mobile 1 oil if anyone has gotten help from ford or any assistance I would love to hear about it Harveyservice@yahoo.com
Thanks for any help

Several people in this forum with the 1.0 Ecoboost engine have reported similar problems.
My 2022 EcoSport has an engine system issue where is shuts off entirely while in Drive gear, with vehicles wheezing by because I am on the freeway. So this requires me to place gear in Park and restart engine. This is very dangerous! The dealership has inspected the vehicle because it is under warranty and found nothing. Has anyone had this issue? The dealership clearly sold me a lemon and I am currently looking at legal avenues.

Yes, mine done it and a simple software update corrected the issue. Mine was shutting off when making a left turn at low speed.

My car became inoperable just this last Friday. Oil pump fail. Ford is currently doing nothing about. No tow and not even a guarantee for reimbursement if I could actually afford this repair. (Estimate given was $9,000.) All they are saying is “sorry for inconvenience” and that they won’t start working on vehicles until 2nd quarter. Anyone have any advice or ideas on how to motivate them to move faster?? The closest dealership has refused service under the recall and won’t won’t even run a diagnostic on it for Ford until April. This is my only transportation. I can’t for Ford to eventually get to my car that they said was safe to continue driving. I need the thing fixed yesterday.

I'd go over their heads. You at least deserve a loaner.

I spoke to them about 4 times so far. Spoke to the recall department twice and the two nearest of the dealerships. All I got was a sorry from customer service. I’m still calling and trying. The last I got was any tow, rental, or repair is out of pocket for the time being and to save the receipts to file for reimbursement at a later date.

Great deal. If you're rolling in cash...

I had a Escape 1.5 (2years) and the engine leaked coolant into the cylinders, they gave me a Ecosport SES (New) loaner for almost 3 months till they a new engine.
I remember a similar thing with the 1.6 put into the Fiesta ST. The head had a hot spot that would warp it when you shut it off. Their fix was to attach a gauge that would tell you when your coolant was low. The real fix happened in 2015, when they just redesigned the head to eliminate the hot spot. Luckily, my '17 has never had an issue.

I think CBr's dealer is not playing fair.

I tried to get a loaner for mine, from the dealership that I purchased the car from new and they said no... I drive too many miles (200 miles a night) and they flat out are refusing to give me a loaner. they said to call customer service and see if they would spring for a rental... I didn't bother. I have a spare car that I can use... So I guess now wont buy a Ford again either... And I told GM to kiss my a$# years ago. so I am down to Chrysler or Foreign.
