rain cover for side opening rear door?

Hello! I’m less than a week into my ownership of a 2021 ecosport titanium.

I typically work from the road and in my other car (Kia soul), the rear door swings up, so I’m able to keep it open in a light to moderate rain. With this car, it’s perfect the way it’s set up except for the side opening door (which I still think is cool and figure I can work around).

I was wondering if there’s any suggestions for accessories I could use to maybe add a rain cover so that I’m not ruining my beautiful interior.

Bonus question: I also have something weird going on with the auto start/stop. It enables and disables at will. Sometimes my phone doesn’t connect to Apple AirPlay and it seems like the wires are somehow crossed in the paneling- the first time I even realized I had auto start/stop was after leaving the dealership, about 10min down the road I turned off my heated seats and got a message that auto start/stop was disabled which… it was never actually enabled the whole time I test drove it. Has anyone else had something like this? I’m planning to call the dealer on Monday of course, but I thought I’d check here as well.

Welcome to the forum! Is your ecosport the 1.0L or 2.0L?

There's an issue currently with the 1.0l that affects the auto start-stop, among other things.

Thank you so much for the reply and the warm welcome!
I have a 2.0. I noticed that when the defroster is running (sometimes) it’s disabled- but I wasn’t able to force it to disable/enable by turning on/off the defroster lol. Maybe it’s just new car ghosts in the system 😅

for anyone curious about the cover, I went with this for now:

I’m skeptical, but I’ll update here either way when I get to try it out next

Typically, the stop-start will be disabled whenever the HVAC is on a setting that requires the A/C compressor to run, such as when the defroster is running. If the fan speed is turned low enough, it will usually stop the engine for a shorter period of time, but if you have the fan running high, it will not stop the engine at all.

There's actually a bulletin out on start-stop function. I'll try and find it for you.
