New Ecosport Updates Makes It More Competitive

Autocar thinks the new updates they've made to the Ecosport will make it more competitive in Europe to better stand up against the Mokka X and Renault Captur. Those two models seems to be the Ecosport's main rivals and have been beating it one step ahead. The facelift, especially on the interior should close the gap.

what does everyone else think?

The Renault Captur certainly has custom options in spades when it comes to exterior paint and interior trim, but the Ecosport interior is just as edgy now and hopefully Ford will offer some unique colors as well.
Being that it's gauged towards the younger generation, I think vibrant new colors should be on their priority list in order to really drag them in.
Even traditional colors like white get good feedback and if you really observe who's driving what on the road, there's a lot of young people in white cars.

Although cars in white can look ugly at times, you have to admit a white EcoSport with the Black Edition package looks great:

Put a black roof on there and I would eat it up. Something is going to need to get done about that antenna though.. looks too.. RC car like.
Switching it out for a shark fin antenna or something more stubby shouldn't be hard. It's one of the more common mods that car owners can do by themselves. Don't understand why manufacturers just won't give the more aesthetically pleasing ones instead of a long antenna.
Once it follows the universal treading and it's a screw on. There are tons of universal shortys and stubbys that are selling for pretty cheap.

Any way for them to cut cost is always the way to go especially when it comes to models like this which there's no need for anything special.

Higher up the range as you get into products like the Fusion, Mustang, etc. that's where you should start expecting little features like this to be addressed. At the end of the day it's just having realistic expectations.

Looking up images of the Fusion you'll see that this holds true.
I hope it's as easy as unscrewing the factory antenna and screwing on an aftermarket one. Going to have to see if the outgoing Ecosport has an simply mounted antenna or not. It just looks weird, but at least it isn't in the way of the roof rack and whatever I decide to put up there.
The Ford Ecosport definitely has what young buyers need these days in the cabin; two USB ports, a 12-Volt outlet, Sync 3 infotainment, up to 30 storage areas and more. Also, the touchscreen is sensitive you you won't need to stab at it with your finger.
The two usb ports is key for young buyers. Plug in two phone chargers and they're happy lol. Now they can even get a dual-usb 12 volt plug and have 4 spaces for chargers!

Those won't be as useful as the smart charging USB ports car makers are installing these days but still better than nothing. Personally I would look into a setup that connects right to the battery. OR just buy a 20k MAH powerbank and keep it in the vehicle.

If you have kids a powerbank will help a lot.
Not as useful but they're useful enough. The ones that only draw 1.1A are super slow, but the 2.1amp outlets on them are pretty effective I've found when needed. I don't really have anything to use the 12V for anyhow, so it'll at least serve a purpose for me there.
Those were more useful back when cars didn't come with USB ports and that was the only option we had. Sure they're handy to have if you rear passenger needs to charge their electronics too, just not really needed on the daily.
That is very true. It's more of a personal preference thing to have. I'll probably be using one port for my phone, one port for my action cam, and then I'll need to utilize the 12V for charging my 2 power banks. I'm constantly using my phone and other things so the need of travel power when not in the car is excessive. Far more excessive than the average it seems.
What I 'd like to see if the Vignales trim for the Ecosport. Gives it a more luxurious feel with more leather on the interior and extra aluminum trim. Concierge service, Vignale loan cars during servicing, and free car washes are a plus especially in the winter when I wash the car once a week.
What would the price difference be do you think?
Optimistically around an additional 1.5k for the the Vignales trim. But that's wishful thinking and we'll probably see a premium of around $3,000.
For what you're receiving, I don't think that's a bad option at all. Especially if you throw that into the financing, it shouldn't provide significant difference
I found out that the ExoSport will come with the basic S trim, value-laded SE, sporty SES and upscale Titanium trim levels. but I have no idea what each one includes.
