Hi all,
First post. Thanks for having me. Two Saturdays ago, I bought a '19 Ecosport SE to replace my '13 Escape SE. I have all Ford vehicles ('10 Fusion, '11 F150, and '15 Edge) and am VERY accustomed to locking the keys in the car and using the keypad on the door to get into it. I told the dealer about this when I bought the car and they assured me that it was a simple dealer installed option to add a keypad. I had them figure the cost of installation into the deal, scheduled an installation appointment, and away we went. Fast forward to the next week day and I get a call saying that the keypad entry kit is not compatible with my SE since it has push button start and the proximity unlock (you just get close to the door with the key and the doors unlock). My Edge has this same proximity unlock feature, but it also has a factory installed keypad. I love the car, but it annoys me more than a little that I am having to forgo a feature that I really like because the dealer mislead me.
The question for this group is: Has anyone figured out how to use a FORD keypad entry to work with one of these systems? I can't believe that in the world of hacks, work-arounds, and bright people that we live, there is not a solution for this. The car does not include Ford Connect (that I know of). They told me that the "Convenience package" was navigation and some floor lighting. Subsequent research tells me that I really should have bought a car with the Convenience Package..... ughh
