After much searching, I have finally found the Ford part number for the trailer tow module under the driver's side rear passenger seat. This module completes the trailer tow prep package installed in our cars come from the factory. The module should be plug and play with no programming.

The part number is GN1Z-19H332-A. You can go to the Ford Parts website and see photos of the module.

You maybe can view it without creating an account. If not, create an account and enter the above part number.

AutoNations - White Bear Lake Ford lists the price - $83.28. You might can get your local Ford Dealer Parts to sell it for same or similar price.

To complete the wiring from the plug located under the left rear corner of the rear bumper, you will need this harness, part number - GN1Z-13A576-A. It plugs into the car wiring harness but does not have the trailer connector. You will need to graft on a flat 4 wire plug to this harness. Wal Mart sells the Hopkins Towing Solutions 4 Flat Extension 18 Inch Wire, 48185 for $4.95 (lots cheaper than your local auto parts store).

Still awaiting the module to arrive from the Detroit Ford Parts Depot. My local Ford parts dept said there are 2 of the modules in stock at the depot.

I foresee no issues as it is plug and play and requires no programming.
Any updates Larry? Hoping this is a plug n play solution.

The module arrived and it was a simple install. The module goes under the driver side passenger seat. The carpet is pre-cut and will need to be snipped in a few spots to mount the module. You will need 4 8mm nuts and washers to mount the module. The plugs are taped to the harness. Cut tape and insert into module. You are finished and can lower the rear seat.

My trailer harness from Ford was wired wrong. See last two photos. Fortunately the body harness has a dummy connector housing with plugs to prevent mud and road grime from cruding up the body harness plug. I was able to remove the wires from the trailer harness by cutting and breaking the trailer harness connector housing. You can then plug the wires into the dummy connector housing after removing the plugs from the 4 openings. Make sure to match the wire colors to the body harness. Then you need to add the flat 4 wire trailer harness to the Ford trailer harness to complete the install.

It is plug n play and uses the CAN bus to activate the turn signals, park and stop lights. No cutting nor crimping to the tail light wires in the rear nor running a 12vdc wire from the battery.

I just ordered the module and the connector but I don’t understand the part about Ford wiring it wrong and what you had to do to correct it.
The when the trailer harness is body harness, the colors do not match.

Body---------------Trailer
Harness-----------Harness

Green--------------Black
Yellow--------------Brown
Brown--------------Yellow
Black----------------Green

See photo.

I had to correct the color code so the lights on the trailer would work correctly and have the correct wire size for each circuit.

Thanks for replying. I guess I didn’t understand what you were saying about having to break the connector and exactly what you had to do to it. I am not sure how long it will take for parts to get here. I already installed hitch.

I installed this unit months ago. Everything works except the turn signals. I believe this unit needs to be programmed
No, the unit does not need to be programmed. It is plug and play. You do have to connect the harness to the body trailer module wiring on the left rear of the car.

This module works fine on my car.

As stated above, the trailer harness and the body harness plugs are not wired correctly. After re-wiring the trailer harness and adding the flat 4 wire trailer connector, it works as advertiseed.

So I got my module and harness today. I have not installed yet. So my question is about the wiring picture you have posted. Is the picture you show before or after you modified the harness by breaking out the wires? After you modified the harness do the colors match?

So I wanted to let everyone know that I finally got my module and harness. It took over a month for me to get them after I ordered them. So even though I was a little confused about the colors in the posts, everything worked exactly as Larry1013 said. The module installed as described. No programming necessary. I also ordered the harness listed above. I broke it apart the connector on the harness as described above an inserted the wires in the dummy connector as instructed. My colors all matched after this for both the male and female sides. Then I spliced in a standard 4 wire flat tow connector onto the new harness. Again all colors matched except that the ground was white on the standard 4 wire connector. So black spliced to white. Everything worked When tested first time no problems. Thank You Larry1013 for your posts and help. Ford did not make this easy. I really appreciate the help!

Hello and thank you for this explanation. I just bought a 2020 EcoSport SES and installed the Curt hitch about an hour ago. I can figure most of this out from your breakdown but what I don't see is what wire harness GN1Z-13A576-A plugs into. I see from your post that the flat 4 connector is spliced on the other end, so does this harness (image below) plug into the lead that is under the rear bumper??? Thank you!

The factory wire harness is clipped up inside the up under the left number. It has the dummy car cover on it.

Thank you! I found that when I installed the hitch but I wasn't sure if that's what that harness plugged into.

It's been 2 months and the dealer still hasn't received the module or harness I ordered.

I know have everything. The module installed easy. Thank you! My harness is wired incorrectly as well, but I've never done anything like this before so I'm not sure how you guys "broke open" the case and then inserted the wires in the dummy connecter. I've removed the little blue plugs from the dummy connecter.

It's been 2 months and the dealer still hasn't received the module or harness I ordered.
