Anyone else lost their engine due to oil pressure issues, despite regular servicing and oil changes? 2018 model

Not me. What engine do you have?
This is a US-based notice, but it seems to be something that happens to some 1.0 ecoboosts: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2019/MC-10163588-0001.pdf
I hope you can get it replaced under warranty. The newer ones don't have that problem.
Seems I have a lemon of a car
You got the crappy tensioner. Ford warranties the drive train for 5 years, at least in the US. I'd think they'd just give you a new engine. It's clearly Ford's fault.

I'm in talks with Ford over here so I will let you know

Good. They know it's a problem.

Otherwise they've quoted £7,000 to repair it for me :(
They'd love to charge you for it. I'd get a lawyer, or maybe a barrister if I were in England... :D
I'm very sorry that this happened to your car. Hopefully Ford will do the right thing and make you whole.

There is one thing I'm very curious about. Did the engine oil pressure light come on? I'm not talking about the "engine oil change due-service required" warning message, while important, you don't have to take immediate action. Just schedule an oil change soon. If it was the light pictured below. That is serious and you need to stop the car just as soon as possible....even if it means towing your car from wherever you are at.

If that light never came on, that's even more of a reason why Ford should fix your car at no cost.

Yes the oil pressure light came on. I was stuck in a huge traffic jam trying to get onto motorway and nowhere to pull over. Once got moving, car went into limp mode and I got onto hard shoulder and stopped. It was too late.

That's disappointing. They're such enjoyable cars when they're working right.

Remember, this is a forum. I'm the most active person on it right now. I'm on some other forums, too. I have two other vehicles and I'm active on forums concerning them.
When people have serious problems with their car, and some always will, no matter what car it is, they will often not join a forum until they have a major issue to talk about, like a blown engine or transmission.
This can give the impression that since some cars are defective, all of them are.

Remember that most people with an EcoSport aren't on this or any other car forums at all. They aren't car enthusiasts, so much as just car users. Most people who drive cars aren't into them the way I am. They don't care who won the Grand Prix, they just see cars as a necessary appliance and they want something that's reliable and suits their lifestyle, end of story.

There's nothing wrong with that. Everyone's different, but everyone's the same when their fairly new vehicle totally fails on them. I'd be pissed, too. Cars are a big expense even if they give you no problems at all.

There will always be a few lemons, no matter the make or model. Ford built these cars since 2003. They sold about 250,000 in the US alone, and only for the last 5 years of production. I would wager that there are a million of them at least, worldwide, maybe more.

Ford seems to know which 1.0 ecoboosts have faulty oil pump belt tensioners. They should warranty it.

I hope you've told Ford/your dealer. I presume Canada has lemon laws. They should have to buy the car back.

Am taking it back tomorrow. Thanks for the lemon law I had totally forgotten about that. I was so ready to trade it in.

Hadn’t thought about the lemon law thanks for that. Taking it in tomorrow see what they say. Bought it brand new so I don’t have to deal with car trouble but seems like that’s exactly what am doing

I've not seen any recall. Did Ford help you with the cost?
Yes ford did. I didn’t pay anything and they covered the cost for a rental for the 3 weeks they had my car . They had to wait for the parts from the states .
