Driven Car Reviews shares their first impressions with the new 2018 EcoSport Titanium. It looks like despite its nameplate this model is neither eco friendly with poor fuel economy and its far from sporty with its lackluster powertrain. Imo they are really going to have to give this model a significant redesign if it hopes to compete with other CUV's on the market.

Can't say i'm surprised to see all the disappointing comments on that youtube video but this is the cost of bringing over a product for the Eastern world with little changes.
My guess is its a place holder and to test the waters before we get the rumored baby Bronco, that will resonate with Ford's customer base.
Ford should've known that a vehicle built in India for India, would need some serious revisions for it to succeed in North America. Ford is going to have to rely on fleet sales until they can give this model a significant overhaul or price cut.
If there is one aspect where this model should perform, its with fuel economy. How can a model that's this small deliver similar economy to what's found in full size SUV's?

Correct, its better suited for growing markets. Established markets like the US have enough competition to squeeze the EcoSport out. Even more of a reason to see this as testing the waters more than anything else. Profits made in other markets are being hedged here, see it as risk free testing ;)
A hybrid system in the EcoSport would alleviate most of its issues, but I don't think well see one until at least 2020. Ford's going to have to make some changes in the meantime if they hope to establish this nameplate as a key player in the CUV segment.
Earlier this summer I drove an Ecosport that I got from Enterprise car rental... I had it for about two weeks. I really enjoyed the little SUV. I found it to be quite enjoyable to drive. I'm tall and could have used a couple more inches of leg room, and I would have appreciated it if the car would have gotten better fuel mileage, but overall I was pleased with the car.
