I have a 2018 awd. I recently was driving and all the transmission oil leaked out and the transmission stopped shifting. It is leaking where the engine and transmission mate together. I filled it back with oil to see if it would shift and it still won't shift. There is a bad smell of burning clutch. I'm looking at replacing the transmission myself. I work on heavy equipment for a living, just not very experienced with the passenger car stuff is this a pretty straight forward job? Is there any tips and tricks I should know before digging in? TIA

What happened? It's not normal for a transmission to just leak all the fluid out all at once.

I'm not to entirely sure what failed I was driving back from work (about 45 min drive). About halfway the shifting got really rough and it started slipping so I tried to make it home and a few more miles down the road I would shift at all. Just acts like it is in neutral. I got out and looked under the car and there was a small puddle of tranny fluid on the ground and it is coming from between the engine and transmission. No leaks prior to this day. That are no holes in anything. I didn't hit anything.

Well, that sucks. They sell this as a "lifetime" transmission. The lifetime of what? I wish they'd just make it easy to flush the fluid once in a while.
Looks like you need a new tranny installed. That should cost you around $800, if this is at all accurate: Transmission Assembly Replacement
I suspect it will cost more than that just for the parts. I'm sorry I don't know enough about the car to say if replacing it is easy or not.

most likely the front seal in the tranny or the torque converter failed, causing the leak. Replacing the tranny is a pain since you have too pull both axles from the tranny & the front wheel bearings. Good luck with the adventure...
