I just received a notice from Ford that the parts are in for recall 23S64! Finally... I made the appointment at the dealership for the install next month Sept 15, 2025
Please do. Ask what it is. Chain? You like to see the new parts. So basically when their mail stated "the parts are available to complete the repair" they lied
.grrrrrr....darned if I'll sign anything saying the repair is complete... I'll let you know what the dealership says they are prepared to install
....
I definitely will...when the time comes. And I'll take a picture too. Supposedly the repair will carry a warranty, her GUESS was 24 months but she admitted she wasn't sure about that. I WILL follow up on that. This car has to last me a long time. Please do. Ask what it is. Chain? You like to see the new parts.
That’s what I figured they’d do. Probably a stronger tensioner to stop slippage and probably a new wet belt made of better materials…. but a chain definitely would have been better but more costly fix.Their putting in the wet belt new tensioner
I went to Ford it a rubber belt again. That’s what I figured they’d do. Probably a stronger tensioner to stop slippage and probably a new wet belt made of better materials…. but a chain definitely would have been better but more costly fix.
You're right and I'm stuck. Although I've had my EcoSport 6 years it has but 13000 miles on it, and no problems :::knocking on wood:::: At 75, it has to last me the rest of my life.Chain is the correct way to fix it. Ford screwed us over. The money we pay for new cars is too expensive the sell junk motors were stuck with. Wet belt dont work. Oil get hot dries the belt out and cracks. It common sense. Ford dont have no more. Chevy makes 1.0 it chain driven....
I’m sure the belt tensioner and belt in the recall will be fine. The new belt material and design will be better quality and last a lot longer then the original flawed design. I too know a chain would have been better but also understand the cost of implementing such a massive recall. A chain would require new cog gears and more intensive labor. You're right and I'm stuck. My ex retired from Ford and he bled Ford Motor Company blue. I bet he's churning in his urn at the joke Ford has turned into. I've purchased a 3 or 4 new cars, unfortunately the EcoSport was to be my last and most economical car. Thanks for nothing Ford....sorely disappointed even though I still love my car. I should have kept my Escape. :'(
Thanks Mhorn...that makes me feel a bit hopeful. Im still after Ford to find out what the warranty is on this 'fix'. I didn't have a lot of luck getting through to them last week so this week lol I guess I'll just leave the cell phone on 'speaker' until they pick up. You would think they'd be wise enough by now to put the information online and save themselves a bunch of phone calls. At least SOME of us would try and look it up first lolI’m sure the belt tensioner and belt in the recall will be fine. I’m sure Ford definitely does not want another recall on the same flawed part in the future. I’m and sure they probably spent a lot of time and testing on the new part. Thanks Mhorn...that makes me feel a bit hopeful. Im still after Ford to find out what the warranty is on this 'fix'. Lol I suppose that's true...they've suffered enough bad press as it is to have the FIX fail, right? 🥴I’m sure Ford definitely does not want another recall on the same flawed part in the future. I’m and sure they probably spent a lot of time and testing on the new part.

Do let us know when you get the car back -- I'm interested in what warranty Ford provides on the repair. My dealership is taking cars in in 'groups' and my car is supposedly in the next group...they say it will be gone for a "while" whatever that is. Leery, yes, but it must be fixed. Most interested in how the car runs afterward. Please keep us posted. thanks!!!Well, the car went to the dealership on Sept 15 as scheduled. To date not one word from them. I will let you all know once they do something or contact me.
Did they give you any idea what the warranty was on the fix? How does the car drive now? Is it still as peppy as it was before....Mine's scheduled to go in with the next 'group' of repairs...thanks in advance (although they can't tell me when that is...they just say 'a couple of weeks)Ours went in on the 11th and was done EOD the 16th
Did they tell you how long the repair is warranted for?Had our 2021 done, here are the parts from the invoice (they do put a new oil filter and oil in so there is that)
